My wife suggested that I take the morning and go shooting. The weather was not being all that cooperative so I didn’t think I would find all that much to go shoot. In fact, I kind of resisted the idea of going out at all. I thought it might be a waste of time. (which is really new for me!!)
I first drove down to beauty bay to see if the sun was perhaps breaking through the clouds there. Or maybe the lake was frozen in some interesting way. Well as it turns out since the weather has been above average all I really saw was a lot of semi frozen mud. Not all that interesting even though I did stop and took some pictures.
I decided I would change the direction of where I was in hopes of some sun breaks. I drove up north and even considered going to the top of mount Spokane. I ended up driving around the Spirit Lake area. I had never taken the time to drive around and explore up there as I was always just driving through on the way up to Newport or something.
What I found was a nice frozen lake and some old buildings. Two things I kind of like. On the way home I spotted this little creek with moss all around. I have always been fond of creek running through mossy woods and rocks, so I stopped and climbed down to the creek. I actually had to set the camera up in the middle of the creek to get this shot.
I want to take the time to thank my wife for supporting this little photography adventure. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have gone out and found this little gem. Thanks honey!!

Added, I love your site!
Just where is the facebook like button ?
Diamond in the Ruff— my favorite time to take pics is in the midst of the clouds right before or right after a storm. The feel and the smell in the air really makes me take notice to the beauty around me, and I think shots turn out more defined with nature– you found a beauty here, nice angle and aim… I bet your feet were pretty cold in that water tho if the weather was bad lol
